The SLUB aims to provide information and knowledge with low technical, legal and physical barriers.
Accordingly, you shall be allowed to use and distribute reproductions of works, which are out of copyright, without restrictions. Our digital objects are licensed under the Creative Commons License CC-BY-SA 4.0. You are allowed to reproduce and distribute the content, to adapt and build upon the material for different purposes, as long as you credit the SLUB as source and license your new creations under the identical terms.
Exceptions from this license may apply for digital objects, whose original documents originate from other institutions or which are under copyright restrictions. The license is declared for every object or for every collection.
Objects of the stock of the SLUB, whose license is "Rights reserved - free access", may be used free of charge for academic and private purposes provided that the source is acknowledged completely. Use of individual images in academic publications with an edition of less than 1,000 copies shall also be free of charge. The commercial use of these objects may be subject to charge and requires the prior written consent of the rights holder; subject to the right to prohibit use in each individual case.

In case of use of a digital object the owning institution (if differing from SLUB) and the SLUB Dresden respectively the SLUB/Deutsche Fotothek have to be credited as well as - in case of photographies - the photographer. For online publications we recommende additionally the annotation of the PURL/URN.

Additionally, images of works of art and collector’s items have to be annotated with the location of the original, so that no doubt can arise with regard to the categorisation of the image and the documentary proof of origin. Online publications have to be provided with an additional link to the respective data record.

In case of use of one of our digital objects we ask for a specimen copy or a link to the online publication.
Individual reproductions in different formats and resolutions can be ordered, in this case the General Terms and Conditions of Business of the Deutsche Fotothek apply. Fees shall be raised in accordance with the Library Fees and Charges.
Digitised documents produced on demand are published in the digital collections of the SLUB and are therewith available to the public and accessible in the long-term.
